Synopsis
Ben Packer has suffered a stroke and cant continue running his family
business. His wife, Nettie, has sent for their two neer-do-well children:
Aaron, a failed folk singer, and Ruth, an idealistic social worker. The family,
along with Ben and Netties only friend, Ozzie, and Mark, an aspiring tv writer who
has longed to marry Ruth, gather for a Passover seder. At the seder, broken dreams
of the past humorously collide with brighter hopes for the future.
The Setting
The Packer household in an east coast city.
Passover, the present.
Author Biography
Barry Brodsky is an award winning playwright and screenwriter. He has
taught Playwriting at Brandeis University (where he received an MFA in Theatre Arts) and
several other colleges and writing centers in the Boston area. He has written more than 20
full length plays and several one act and ten-minute plays. His plays have been performed
across the country, and two of his ten-minute plays have been published in anthologies.
Barry also teaches Screenwriting at U.Mass-Boston and Emerson College. Two of his
screenplays have been optioned by a Boston-area producer. Barry served in the Army during
the Vietnam War and is currently the Director of the Veterans Upward Bound program at
U.Mass-Boston.
