Synopsis
Katie, a toddler, is abducted at a
local park. Jordan, her teenage brother and babysitter left her at the kiddy
swings for two minutes— only two minutes— to get ice cream at the street
vendor. When he turned back to the swings, he finds that Katie has simply
disappeared. The tragedy is compounded when Jordan unwittingly provides the
kidnapper with damaging information. He receives no sympathy from his
unforgiving mother. Overcome with feelings of guilt, shame and rejection,
Jordan runs away from home. Found by his father days later, he learns from
him a family secret that puts mother and son on a path of reconciliation and
healing. Second Son is the story of a shattered family finding deliverance
in the midst of tragedy.
Setting
The comfortable sitting room of Abby and Winston’s home. It is
nicely furnished, stylish, upper middle class, but not overly done. A teddy
bear, a doll and other toys appropriate for a toddler clutter the floor of
the room. A telephone is conspicuously displayed.
